Yesterday I had a great time shooting Jane & Jean's wedding! I knew the wedding day was going to be a fantastic, huge success when I saw Jane's fabulous Valentino shoes (is it wrong to judge a wedding by the shoes?):
Jane looked stunning in a lacy, vintage looking gown and mantilla style veil:
Something blue--the most perfect little brooch on her bouquet:
The first meeting:
Jane practicing her vows by herself right before the ceremony
I just like this shot
The ceremony was beautiful & very emotional. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house!
I love this shot of Jane & Jean coming back down the aisle, helped out by my Totally Rad Actions
We did it!
I got to take the couple for a little walk around the cute area near the reception at Villa Del Sol courtyard
I always post way too many photos, I've got to cut that out!
First dance
The couple sat at a little sweetheart table where they could see the whole reception
And a crazy party it was!
Jane threw the bouquet over the balcony
Tossing the garter is serious business
I love outdoor receptions at night
One last shot
Congratulations Jane & Jean! Also, a huge huge thank you to Fred Egan, a good friend from Texas for coming out to shoot with me!
A Hot Air Balloon Ride! Sat. April 28, 2007 my life
Yesterday, a bunch of us went down to San Diego for a hot air balloon ride in honor of Alex Hill's birthday! Julie, Alex's wife planned the whole thing as a suprise and got us all together for this super fun night. Julie and Alex are the owners of Elysium Productions, the absolute best videographers here in So. Cal.
I wasn't nervous at all before heading down, but I did start to have my doubts when the basket we were going up in showed up on the back of this van:
Julie brought tons of champagne, Chenin did the honors of cracking open the first bottle
One of the coolest things was that we actually got to go inside the balloon as it was getting blown up, it was so weird and fun! Those things are a LOT bigger than they look in photos. Here's Vic Sizemore chasing down Alex for some photos:
Vic and his awesome wife Rachel before we took off--so cute!
Off we go! We had some amazing views of San Diego:
Look! Another balloon!
The delightful Boutwells:
One of my favorite parts was getting to fly over the incredible homes in the area. Check this one out--the balloon pilot said it's 65,000 square feet! We actually flew down really close to it but I was so facinated at the details of it that I forgot to shoot it when we were closer:
Julie, thanks for putting this together and Alex, Happy Birthday!
Jessica Claire Clients Featured in Travelgirl Magazine! Thu. April 26, 2007 clients
I recently became aware of a great magazine out there for girls, especially girls who have the travel bug like myself. It is aptly named Travel Girl Magazine and offers tons of great travel tips, fashion, business, and all kinds of other cool articles.
When I was contacted for some images and help with their article coming up in the May/June issue about the top 10 wedding trends, I was so excited to be a part of it! Lots of couples are shown here, check it out!
Look who it is! Chenin Boutwell looking hot for some boudoir photos as a gift to Doug for their 5 year anniversary. Trend #2 is Before-Wedding Boudoir Shots, and it's so cool that they chose this. My boudoir sessions including a 20 photo album are $1500. Feel free to click here to send me an email if you're interested!
Trend #8--Travel! Destination weddings have become so popular in the last couple of years, and all the images below except for the bottom middle photo (from Gina & Heath's wedding) are from destination weddings. There's Janey & Jeff in Cabo, Kendall & Joe in Cabo, Sarah & Lando in DC, and Beng & Dave in Maui!
Mimi & Mark's Cabo Extravaganza! Sun. April 22, 2007 i do
Mimi and Mark's wedding surpassed every expectation I had. The day was simply perfect--the weather was to die for, the bride and groom were incredibly happy and in love, and every guest was relaxed and excited to share the day with the couple. Not to mention the fact that anyone who says a destination wedding can't be a killer party is dead wrong--this one probably went all night!
I started off the day as I usually do, with the girls. I shouldn't have been surprised that Mimi chose a spectacular Monique Lhuillier gown to wear for her wedding
No flip flops for Mimi!
I took the girls all around the property of the Westin Regina Los Cabos to take advantage of some of the crisp bright colors
I love this shot of the girls talking and laughing
Let's not forget about the very handsome groom
Or his big crew of hot groomsmen
The ceremony was beachfront and gorgeous. The programs:
Mark patiently waiting for Mimi
The first glimpse of Mimi and her dad before they made it down to the beach. I love that her dad wanted to wear a white suit so they'd be the only ones in all white
They were kind enough to provide these little umbrellas so the guests could find some shade during the ceremony
This couple looked at each other so sweetly during the ceremony
First kiss
The couple toasted their friends on the beach after the ceremony
The bride's brother Geoff and his wife Sherri, expecting twins this July!
Check out this good looking bridal party
General rule--if there's a bed on the beach, jump on it!
Then relax a bit
A little sunflare
Look at this beautiful couple!
The lobby of the Westin is so cool that I've been waiting this whole trip to shoot there
The seat assignments at the reception were awesome
Mark & Mimi entering the reception like rock stars!

Mark and Mimi did not stop the party when this reception ended at 11:30. They threw a huge after party bash that probably went until 3 at least!
Mimi & Mark's amazing wedding vendors:
Coordinator: Fiestas Los Cabos Fiestas Los Cabos, run by my good friend Tara Null is the top coordinating company in Cabo. They are first class all the way. Tara and her team have every single detail accounted for and every wedding I've worked with them has been absolutely flawless. If you are getting married in Cabo, they should be your first call. Their website will be finished in a few weeks, but for now just send an email to tara@fiestasloscabos.com for info.
Flowers: Elena Damy. Elena's flowers are perfection. Each bloom is gorgeous and she does an incredible job with the decor. The flowers are always fresh and beautiful, plus she's great at coming up with creative ideas! You should check her out!
Videography: Elysium. If you've got the budget for it, flying down a videographer is an awesome idea, and Elysium travels frequently for weddings. They're local out of Orange County, so it's not too far!
DJ: DJ David Chang I can't believe Mimi and Mark flew in a DJ but it was probably the smartest decision they made (except for me, of course!). This DJ is out of NYC where the couple are from, and he was awesome. He threw the most raging party i've ever seen, not just for a destination wedding but for ANYWHERE. The AV was impeccable, the music choices killer, and and the atmosphere surreal. Mimi and Mark's guests were in for a real treat. I highly recommend him.
Venue: I loved shooting at the Westin. It's bright and gorgeous, and the food was delicious! The restaurant where the reception was is so cool also. Other venues I like are Casa Del Mar, The One and Only Palmillla, Las Ventanas, The Marquis Los Cabos, the Cabo Del Sol Country Club, and the private homes in Del Sol and Palmilla.
Hope this helps some of you Cabo brides!
Mimi and Mark, I can't thank you guys enough for having me here, it was so awesome!
Back in Cabo for Mimi and Marc! Fri. April 20, 2007 i do
Here I am once again in beautiful Cabo San Lucas! This time, I am here for Mimi and Marc's wedding on Saturday at the super hip and bright Westin Cabo. We arrived here yesterday and the weather couldn't be better. It's sunny at 85 with a great breeze coming in off the ocean--perfection! This time, my good friend and Albumesque owner Amy Nave is here with me. Albumesque is an album design service that Amy co-founded to help photographers by designing albums for them. You should check it out!
Here's Amy:
Last night, we headed out to Marc & Mimi's rehearsal, and if the rehearsal is any indication of what the wedding will be like, I absolutely cannot wait until Saturday! One of the things I love about being a destination wedding photographer is the kindness and friendliness of the couples I shoot out of town. They are so welcoming as if I'm an old friend, and I think that comfort level makes for great photos.
The rehearsal was held at Casa del Mar, which is a perfect site for either weddings or rehearsals:
As soon as we arrived, there were all kinds of yummy drinks waiting for the guests:
Not to mention this fabulous looking Paella, which looks way way better than my paella making attempts. I guess I should practice!
All the food looked delicious
The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect, and there was a mariachi band setting the perfect mood
Have I mentioned the decor? It was straight out of a Jessica Claire fantasy
It was a wonderful night with friends and family. Here's the father of the groom giving a toast, with lighting assistance by one of Mimi's brothers:
The groom's sister toasting
Mimi and Mark enjoyed a roast from another friend
I can't wait to shoot with these guys on Saturday!
