Are some days just meant to be bad? Fri. November 30, 2007 my life
Today I am having a bad day. An album came back wrong from the bookbinder, it's pouring down rain (VERY rare for So. Cal), my hair is frizzing up because of the weather, and I got rear-ended. Yick. I'm sure that something else will happen because it's only 3:00pm and there is plenty more time left in the day.
It's one of those days when I just want to throw on sweats, eat foods that will ensure I can't fit back into any of my regular clothes, and watch movies like The Breakfast Club while simultaneously reading People magazine and having someone bring me a big cup of hot chocolate.
Instead, I will be embarking on the rainy, heavy Friday afternoon traffic on the journey from here to LA for a shoot while on the phone with the insurance agent who will need to fix my car.
Quick, someone tell me something good!!
Was there life before my blog? Thu. November 29, 2007 i do
**the contest I was going to announced has been postponed for just a day or two more, so stay tuned for that!**
I've actually been thinking about exactly how I ever booked any weddings before my blog. I just love being able to show people the absolute most recent things that I'm doing, share stories, information, and other fun things! I decided to look back at my old blog to see when I started, and I sure wasn't very good at it at first! In the down time, I think I'm going to post a few weddings that I posted before anyone actually read this blog, just for fun.
I came across the wedding of Andrea and Tyler the other day because I have a little sample album here of their wedding. I though they were just a beautiful couple and I loved their very down to earth, sweet wedding. This wedding took place in October, 2005.
Here's a few favorites:
Andrea was a stunning bride:
Tyler, so anxious and excited before seeing Andrea for the first time:
I loved their first moments together. The little boy is Rylan, Andrea's absolutely adorable little boy:
He's quite the studmuffin:
The best part of the wedding--the too-cute-for words little flower girls!
I loved how this couple looked at each other:
Gorgeous, simple table settings:
One of my favorite cake-cutting shots, I love the expression on little Rylan's face:

Ah, if only that were true! No, this year, I must say, my wish list is quite long as for the most part, I've stopped buying stuff to try to save for buying a house sometime next year. Here's what's on my wish list (mom, a more detailed list is on the way):
1. Heated Slippers--what a fabulous idea! I know that living here in Southern California my feet shouldn't be cold, but they are. And these slippers are the perfect remedy.
2. Alberto Fermani Boots-- I desperately want these boots, preferably in black, size 8 or 8.5. I LOVE the brown pair, but I already have great brown boots so I have no excuse for getting these. I also know that I will never get them because 1. they are way overpriced and nobody I know will get me a gift this expensive and 2. I don't think they are available in my size. Sigh. Oh well.
Cute Pajama Pants--like these ones from my favorite store, Anthropologie. Actually, I would like anything from Anthropologie. It is my Mecca.
45mm Tilt Shift Lens--I have decided that I want to have this lens. It looks awesome and I love the idea of adding something new to my arsenal!
iTunes or Apple Gift Card--Most of you know that I do a lot of traveling. Well one of the things that keeps me occupied on long flights is looking forward to watching episodes of my favorite shows or downloading a whole season of a show I want to start watching. I download everything from itunes, so I love gift certificates!
So that's my top five! Start thinking about your holiday desires, because there's a new contest coming tomorrow night...
Then and Now: A foray into the vault Tue. November 27, 2007 people
With all the suggestions ya'll gave below, I now have no excuse for not blogging! Thanks for that!
Someone mentioned that I should post some old wedding shots from my "early years". The Boutwells and I get together every now and then and over a few too many drinks, pull out the worst of the photos we've ever shot--mostly stuff from so long ago that blogs didn't exist and neither did fashionable photography!
Unfortunately, most of my early years were spent second shooting for a bigger studio and I didn't save those images (most of it was film anyway). BUT I do have all the CD's (yes, we were burning CD's back then) from the first year I shot weddings by myself, which was 2003-2004.
Below are a few of my faves from my first year of shooting on my own. Surprisingly, they're not quite as bad as I thought, but man, what I would give to be able to shoot these brides now! This was also before I knew how to use photoshop, so the pics are straight out of camera (they are sharpened because of the blog resizing action). These are all from 2003, the first year I shot completely digital:
1. Lindsay--the first wedding I ever second shot for my good friend James Walters
2. Allison--they have really beautiful churches in North Carolina:
3. Katie--one of my favorite brides ever, i was into lighting my outside pics back then
4. Jenny & Josh--another favorite couple of mine, it's actually possible that Jenny might still check this blog! My first backlighting attempt
I'm sick of blogging!! Mon. November 26, 2007 my life
For those of you just tuning in, I made the commitment to post on this blog every day for a month. I now have a new respect for those people who have been blogging every day for months or even years. It's ridiculous. I have no idea how people come up with something interesting to post every day.
"What's the big deal", you might say?
It is really hard to find something to talk about every day here, especially as we go into the slow season and I'm shooting less. So I'm leaving it up to you--leave me some comments with some ideas!
Here's a few I came up with, you can vote for one, that would be awesome:
